The Huge History Lesson

video thumbnail
Fancy going behind the scenes at the British Museum? Think you and your class could tell your version of history in one of the world’s biggest museums? Then the Huge History Lesson is right up your street: http://www.TES.com/hugehistory

Your challenge is to take a historical object, find out all you can about it and then tell the story (or stories) you think the world will find the most interesting.

You could make a podcast, a documentary film, a play, a poem – or your own new and exciting format! But remember – while technology helps us unwrap some of history’s greatest mysteries, many of the greatest discoveries were made with just a pen and paper.

So head to your local museum and create something new out of something very old (or not so old). If you can’t get down to a museum, don’t worry – you can find a handy list of 100 key objects from museums around the UK at http://www.teachinghistory100.org

The Huge History Lesson is a partnership between the British Museum and TES, supported by Arts Council England.
