70 Years of QUATERMASS in TV and Film
**If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to the H101wDrAC channel - you won't want to miss what we have coming up next!** Tonight, we’re going to be discussing one of the most influential characters from one of the most influential sci-fi writers: Professor Bernard Quatermass, sprung from the talented pen of British author Nigel Kneale. During the summer of 1953, in the early days of British television and the golden age of onscreen science-fiction, Nigel Kneale delivered a six-part serial exploring the possibilities of a manned rocket flight returning to Earth from the unknown realms of space, having brought something back. This landmark TV event, known as THE QUATERMASS EXPERIMENT, was an instant sensation, capturing the imagination of the British public. 70 years later, we will look back at that galvanizing moment, and its incredible influence on science-fiction and horror cinema, and a certain little British movie studio known as Hammer Films whose legacy endures to this day. Yet, somehow, at least for U.S. horror fans, the name of Quatermass continues to struggle for recognition, something which my esteemed guests and I hope to move the needle just a little bit with our conversation tonight. Joining AC in the studio are fellow authors, film enthusiasts, and proud former members of the IMDb Horror Message Boards, Christianne Benedict (Krell Laboratories) and Kevin Matthews (For It Is Man's Number, Raiders of the Podcast).
