๐น Stone Town Conservatives team member, Simon Bell, talks to Jamie Richards, CEO of AEDdonate โคต๏ธ ๐งโ๐ AED Donate are a charity that provide defibrillators. 6 years ago, Jamie Richards was a firefighter working out of Stone and Aston. After attending a defibrillator training course and realizing what a life saver a defibrillator was, Jamie was inspired to leave the fire service and establish AED Donate. The charity was initially launched from Jamie's spare bedroom and has since gone from strength to strength. The charity now has an office, 2 shops and employs 11 people. ๐ AED Donate now have 1900 defibrillators in use, 20 of which are located in Stone. There were 28 deployments of the defibrillators in 2018 in Stone and there has been a significant increase in deployment since the Covid outbreak due to the emergency services being overstretched. ๐ท๐ฐ AED Donate were forced to close their stores during lock-down and had to Furlough off their staff members. Without the Furlough scheme, this charity would not have survived. AED Donate also took advantage of council grants to stay afloat. It costs ยฃ2,000 to fully commission a defibrillator. ๐งโ๐ซ AED Donate will be running monthly training courses in their shop on Stone High St to train people up on how to use a defibrillator. Anyone can attend a course and there is no age restrictions. Keep an eye on their website and social media about any upcoming training courses.
