|
Clara Sismondo's talk entitled "What is to be done: Climate Action in a Time of Crisis" shares perspectives on environmental activism and action. Clara shares the importance of taking action and finding ways to make large impacts as a youth, thinking critically about corporate and social environmental campaigns. Clara tackles the question of how environmentalism can be made accessible to people of all socio-economic backgrounds, and how youth can encourage not only passive environmental action, but also active and large-scale action. Clara Sismondo is an 18 year old who recently graduated from KCVI and will be attending University at the University of British Colombia in September. At KCVI Clara was involved in HOSA, the math club, Model UN, Poetry and Voice, and the writing club. Outside of school Clara loves to play the violin as part of a local violin ensemble, and enjoys about personal fitness and environmental activism. Clara is passionate about veganism, non-human animal rights, environmental policy, and the Green New Deal politics. Clara chose to speak at TEDxYouth@KCVI to share her perspectives on environmental activism and action, and try to ignite more interest in the Kingston community and raise awareness for what is happening right here, right now. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
