What should we talk about? The authenticity of textbook topics.

Are the topics presented in textbooks useful for learners? ELT researchers and practitioners frequently discuss the authenticity of language in textbooks, but very few have examined the topics being used and their relevance for students.

In this video Aki Siegel, Assistant Professor in the Department of Intercultural Communication at Rikkyo University Japan, discusses her ELT Journal article ‘What should we talk about? The authenticity of textbook topics’. (ELT Journal Volume 68 Issue 4).
