Barcelona were unable to sign Memphis Depay on transfer deadline day even though Lyon had dropped his price to just £23million, according to reports in Holland. The report claims that fee had been adjusted downwards, with the Ligue 1 side's initial demands set at a fee of €25m.

Depay had been one of Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman's main targets since his arrival at the Nou Camp, but the 57-year-old was unable to get his man. Barcelona have been trying to trim their squad this summer and have offloaded Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, Rafinha and Nelson Semedo among others.

There are reports which suggests that Barcelona have “promised” to sign Depay in January when the transfer window opens again, and as he’s in the final year of his contract he’ll be free to negotiate. Let's wait and see.
