It came as no surprise in 2015 when Gates launched Breakthrough Energy, a network of investment vehicles, philanthropic initiatives, and policy programs designed to accelerate the clean energy transition. SOSV is indebted to Bill Gates’s authoritative book, How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need, because it inspired us to dig deep into SOSV’s portfolio to publish the SOSV Climate Tech 100 list, alongside an analysis of their founders and investors. It also inspired us to launch and structure this summit as a gathering of the climate tech ecosystem.
