Special Education PLC Session 1: Sustainability & Art |
|
The Special Education Professional Learning Community (PLC) will allow special educators (from both D75 and non-D75 schools) to build a community that connects sustainability to special education. We plan to meet 4-5 times throughout the 2021-22 school year, and each meeting will features examples from NYC-based organizations and school-based special educators about how they're supporting sustainability.
In our kickoff session, centered around Sustainability & Art, we heard from two schools , PS 141 in Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Occupational Center, who've incorporated sustainability and the arts into their special education programs. We were also joined by the Director of Education for Materials for the Arts, John Kaiser, who walked us through his organization's resources for schools. John also lead a short build-out (with reused materials) at the end of the session. |
