Hidden Homelessness and What We Don't See | Rachel Hall | TEDxUniversityofStAndrews

video thumbnail
Rachel's talk explores the topic of hidden homelessness, a form of homeless, which we do not see in society but effects millions of people every year. Considering the failure of official figures to acknowledge this category of homelessness, our lack of knowledge over its causes and our inability to engage with it. As a result, encouraging her audience to become more aware and engaged in the hopes this will eradicate hidden homeless from our collective future. Rachel holds a BA in English from Cedarville
University. She is a second year Master of Fine
Arts student at the University of St Andrews
with a focus in nonfiction creative writing.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she
grew up in Fairfax, Virginia. Rachel is daughter
to Linda, sister to Jim, and wife to Andrew. As
a result of having spent her childhood in
periodic homelessness, Rachel is currently
writing a memoir on the experience of
homelessness and economic transience. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
