Anthony Fantano is a famous music reviewer who has over 1.5 million subscribers on his YouTube channel TheNeedleDrop. He’s widely respected throughout the music industry for his reviews on new albums across many genres such as hip hop, metal, rock and pop. Fantano’s rare perfect scores come only once in a while, and to few albums: Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly, Swan’s To Be Kind, Kids See Ghosts’ self titled album and The Money Store by Death Grips. This video examines the artistic and cultural contexts of these 4 albums. After seeing a list of these albums I realized they were vastly different types of music and I felt like making this video discussing how they differ. For the record: I am not pretending to know what Anthony Fantano thinks or how he feels about different albums.
