The Parable of the Good Shepherd

John 10:1-18

In this parable Jesus demonstrtes that he is the true Shepherd. He identifies Himself at the sheepfold gate to the watchman in the appropriate way. His own sheep listen to His voice and recognize Him and then are willing to follow Him (John 10:3-4). His own sheep shall find pastures (John 10:9). He is the Shepherd who lays down his life for his sheep (John 10:11). This shows that this Shepherd's care is not for Himself but for the sheep.
