What’s so ancient about Greek mythology? | James Barton Steel | TEDxRoyalCentralSchool

video thumbnail
At a time when most people cannot name an Ancient Greek or Roman story, much less understand their relevance, James explores the continuing impact that Ancient Greek and Roman stories still have on our lives, whether we realise it or not.

James is an actor. He has spent years, balancing this with a career in business development, specifically in education. He also enjoys a fascination with the ancient world and before embarking down the acting path he studied a BA Hons Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at University of Warwick, where he combined a love of the theatre with an appreciation for where it all began. He want on to gain an MA in Acting where his thesis focused on the work of Steven Berkoff, specifically his reimagining and interpretation of classic stories. This talk is based on two strands of James' life that have shaped and defined him. Actor This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
