Exactly two years ago today it was announced that Zeljko Buvac, Jurgen Klopp’s assistant manager at Liverpool, would not work with the first team for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.
It was a huge shock. Buvac was Jurgen Klopp’s closest confidant and the man Klopp affectionately called ‘The Brain’. And the timing wasn’t great either, coming just two days before the crucial Champions League semi-final second-leg in Rome versus Roma. Liverpool fans feared they had been here before. History, however, did not repeat itself, and with Pep Ljinders returning to the fold, Klopp’s side not only coped without such an important training-ground figure, they got even better.
