Can a Walmart Carbon Fiber Bike Survive? | Hyper Carbon X Mountain Bike |
|
The Hyper Carbon X Carbon Fiber mountain bike from Walmart is $399. What happens if you upgrade it, and how long can it last on mountain bike trails? For the past 6 months I've been riding this bike on trails. 4 months with it upgraded 'Project X'
So far it has held up incredibly well and rides as good as my Trek X Caliber 8 with the exception of the Xcal having a slightly wider gear range. The carbon fiber frame is legit carbon fiber, and has shown no signs of weakness. Even on rough trails and after enduring a few small crashes. I only share my experiences and never recommend bikes. My experience with the Carbon X and with the upgrade process has been enjoyable and rewarding. I feel this bike is a near equal to my Trek Xcaliber 8 on the trail and the ride is almost identical. That said, it hasn't been cheap. Costing about the same as a new Trek Xcal - which has proper dealer setup and proper service.
