Though many patients say that doctors inspire them, I feel that it's the patients who inspire us doctors. Some of our patients have such inspiring stories that it is very important that we share them with others to spur them on in their low moments. Mrs. Bhargavi is one such patient. She is bravery personified. Before she came to us itself, she had already proven her strength as she defeated leukemia, but in the process of that treatment, she developed AVN(avascular necrosis) of both her hips, finding it very difficult to even go to the bathroom on her own. She put her faith in us and came for a hip replacement surgery and she got the robotic hip surgery done. I remember seeing her the day after the first side, she was in a lot of pain and she almost refused to get the second side done. She said she'll go home and come back again. I told her if she goes home, she may not come back again for the second side. Bearing the immediate post-operation pain, she took the leap of faith and got the second side done also within a day.
I'm proud to say that she is our patient. She's a fighter and this video proves it. This is 3 months post her surgery of both her hips and she's back to work and she is a winner. When we see patients like this, we get inspired to serve many more people like her. Hats off to your courage, Bhargavi.
