The Black Death pandemic occured between 1347 & 1353 and killed between 75 and 200 million people.
The Black Death was caused by a disease called plague (of which there are 3 forms- bubonic, septicemic and pneumonic). The bacteria responsible for the Black Death and other plague outbreaks is called Yersinia pestis and most likely originated from the Oriental rat flea somewhere from China. |
