Killer musicians are a dime a dozen. Or are they?

What makes someone a killer? Can you tell by the tone of their voice? The pace of their step? The lyrics of their songs?

Today, we will find out. In today’s video we will dive deep into the human psyche and discover the truth about killer musicians. From renaissance riots to punk and metal legends, to mysterious cult leaders and rappers with careers behind bars, this is the music of serial killers.

Welcome to the first feature-length documentary on the Sets and the CD Channel: The Music of Serial Killers. This is a complex and intricate study into what makes music-makers kill. Join us today as we try to figure out if there is, indeed, something more sinister behind the symphony.

VERY IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:
I am aware not everyone discussed here is a “serial killer” by definition, but the title should set the stage of the story, so we went with it.
While this video’s length is significant, this is by no means a comprehensive study in sociological affect. An in-depth exploration of the many facets that color and influence the issues behind a lot of these communities was never in the scope of this documentary. Rather, we focused our analysis on contextualizing the stories of the subjects we discussed in this project. And, obviously, the music they produced. I hope our deepest dive in this crazy world has managed to provide an overview between the relationship of artistry, musicianship and fatal intent. If any of these fascinating tales inspire you, may this be the entrance to some remarkable rabbit holes. Or just the stories behind the music. This video is not meant to satirize, sensationalize or diminish the importance of any of the crimes contained in it, and serves educational entertainment purposes only.

Introduction: the case of Lawrence Horn. Can you tell someone will kill through a song?

Introspection: Youtube-famous singer-songwriter John Hinckley’s double life after almost killing a former US President.

Crimes of Passion: Complicated couples with disastrous conclusions, late black widows and a fake Christian band converge.

The Punk Scene: Extremist music is for extremist people. Or is it the nihilism we should be really scared of? Meaninglessness and safety pins betray a history of hate.

The Heavy Metal Scene: Unfairly biased or just a red-herring for a devilish agenda? Senseless crimes and popularity-defining provocateurs who seem to get a pass for the impulse.

Cult Leaders and Other Unlikely Suspects: At the other side of the spectrum: soft-spoken and deathly silent, yet the echo of their actions lives on forever. From religious folksters to industry pillars, no one is immune.

The Death of the Musician: Is the art coming before the artist? Does it even matter anymore? Three subjects whose stories heavily contrast their legacies: Big Lurch, Jeannie Reynolds and Keith Moon. Yes, they’re all killers.

Accidents: Is intent enough to justify a tragedy? Heartbreaking stories that infused songs with pain.

Handicaps: Insanity, medication, and street selling. The downward spiral continues with a look at those who’ve acted under the influence.

Gangs and Prisons: Does the music end when crime begins? Some would argue that’s not the case. Especially, if they’re in Jamaica. How prison transforms careers, and how it should be transformed in return.

Real Killers: Those who’s songs have become a mere footnote to a much more infamous legacy are at center-stage at the culmination of our trip. True crime lovers, this one is for you.

Extreme Music (A Conclusion): Degenerates with great taste and taste-making degenerates may tell us where to draw the line. Can we know someone through a song?
