CAGED Major 7 Chords Guitar Lesson - using the CAGED System to memorise chords |
|
In this guitar lesson, we are looking at the CAGED system, specifically how we can use it to learn and memorise major 7 chords. CAGED is an amazing way to learn so much on the guitar fretboard. Our focus for today is using to form some CAGED chords, namely major 7th chords (major 7 or maj7).
The major 7 chord consists of a Root - major 3rd - perfect 5th - major 7th The key thing is that we're looking to add in the major 7th to our barre chord shapes. The major 7th will always be a half step (or one fret) below a Root note. I like to teach the CAGED system based around octave shapes. If you can easily identify the octave shapes, you can effortlessly locate the major 7 that needs to be added to each CAGED barre chord shape for the CAGED major 7 chord shapes. I take you through the major 7th chords rooted in both D and G, the I and IV chords in the key of D major. We conclude with an exercise using a backing track for a I-IV in the key of D. The backing track and supporting PDF charts and tabs are available to all my Patreon group members. ★ FREE Fretboard Mastery eBook: https://bit.ly/3G0Gco9 ★ WEBSITE: https://www.rynaylorguitar.com/ SHOP: https://shop.rynaylorguitar.com/ PATREON: http://patreon.com/rynaylorguitar FOLLOW ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA INSTAGRAM: https://bit.ly/38hrZmI FACEBOOK: https://bit.ly/2SBmqsL PINTEREST: https://bit.ly/39uCljx WHO AM I?
