Queensland drew the match 18-18 thanks to a last-minute try to Dane Carlaw. The draw meant the Maroons retained the shield, due to their victory in the 2001 series. Tallis is also remembered in this match for chastising certain members of the Sydney crowd during the final try celebrations.
