Want to make these yourself? This was actually very simple to create. Follow my guide on building your first tower collapse simulation and then build, and destroy, any sort of structure you like! Note that this is a slightly different construction to that in the tutorial, but KEVA / KAPLA sized planks can easily be made into planks that work in this simulation by simply scaling them.

Next, we want to make it look more like Phymec's videos, which were what inspired this and many others. First you'll want to install Luxrender, which has great guides for doing this on their website. Now the only illumination you'll need is a Luxrender sun light, but make sure it's set to sun and sky, not just sun.

Now find a material which is a similar colour to wood. I find FFE2BF works well.

To add an extra layer of realism, you can texture your bricks to look like even more like wood. Phymec himself created a great guide on creating a (realtime!) game for destroying these structures. In this tutorial he also shares how he makes his wood texture by baking Blender Internal textures and this can be applied to Luxrender:
