Sydney can now claim eight of the top 10 best suburbs to live in across Australia, according to a new nation-wide ranking.

The Northern Beaches came in first and the ACT took out number two, while Victoria was snubbed all together from the top ten.

The SGS Cities & Regions Wellbeing Index analysed more than 500 local government areas according to factors such as housing, the economy, health, environment, income, employment and equality.
