The country is bordered by Ethiopia to the west, Djibouti to the northwest, the Gulf of Aden to the north, the Indian Ocean to the east, and Kenya to the southwest. Somalia has the longest coastline on Africa's mainland.
The tourism business in Somalia was receiving attention thanks to its numerous historical monuments, beaches, waterfalls, mountain ranges, and national parks, but once the civil war broke out in the early 1990s, the Ministry of Tourism ceased operations. The cave paintings at Laas Geel are regarded to be among of Africa's most vibrant rock art. Geel's rock art for centuries, but it wasn't until 2002 that it was brought to international attention. A mission returned to Laas Geel in November 2003. And a team of experts conducted a full analysis of the paintings in their prehistoric environment.
