Sikh Martyrdom: Baba Deep Singh ji is most famous for his role in the defense of the Golden Temple (Sri Harmandir Sahib) in Amritsar. In 1757, when the Golden Temple was under attack by Afghan invaders, he led a group of Sikhs in a valiant effort to protect the sacred shrine. Despite suffering a grievous head injury in the battle, he continued to fight, holding his severed head in one hand and his sword in the other, until he reached the inner sanctum of the Golden Temple. It was there that he breathed his last, defending the faith with unmatched determination.
