Examining Halo: Reach's (And Bungie's) Final Chapter |
|
All good things must come to come to an end and with the final mission of Halo Reach's campaign, so too did Bungie’s time with Halo.
They began the Halo series with a mission named The Pillar of Autumn in Halo: Combat Evolved back in 2001, and nine years later they signed off with a level sharing that very name in Halo Reach, with the former connecting to the later to bring the Halo franchise full circle. In this video, I analyse everything The Pillar of Autumn's level design and gameplay to its story, setting and atmosphere, to try and explain why it's such a unique experience, while also drawing comparisons to Winter Contingency, Long Night Of Solace, Exodus, New Alexandria and other missions in Halo Reach's campaign.
