video thumbnail
The Ministry of Health has set new fee benchmarks for private hospitals and doctors. This will allow patients to compare costs across healthcare providers, amid rising healthcare costs. MOH data showed median private hospital fees rose by an average of 4.5% each year from 2007 to 2021. Surgeon fee benchmarks for 1,900 more procedures are also in place, compared to just 200 in 2018, when the benchmarks were first introduced. MOH said close to nine in 10 surgeons have kept their fees within the surgical benchmarks since it was introduced.
