In the Shadow of the Capitol: Reminiscences of Growing Up in Segregated Washington Part 1 |
|
In the Shadow of the Capitol was aimed at preserving the history and memories of the African-American intellectual and professional community in Washington, DC, between the 1922 dedication of the Lincoln Memorial and the 1963 "I Had a Dream" speech by Martin Luther King, Jr.
The program culminated in a symposium at the Folger Shakespeare Library that brought some of that era's greatest luminaries to the attention of new audiences. In this segment, Sterling A. Brown, W. Montague Cobb, Rayford W. Logan, and May Miller reminisce about growing up in racially segregated Washington, DC. |
