Adaptation is a great movie written by Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Synecdoche New York). It compares how people adapt to their social environments to how organisms evolve. It is also a discussion of passion, or lack there of, and dislocation. Great performances all around, especially Meryl Streep.
