This year, the Jashn witnessed the first women's group to perform the Chahar Bait, a folk music genre originating 1500 years ago. Chahar (Four) Bait (Verse) is a musical composition comprising of various quatrains. It has travelled from Afghanistan and has its roots in the war poetry of Arabia.
It was popularized in medieval India by soldiers who used it as an interlude during the period of war.
