Masatoshi Nakayama is regarded as one of the main authorities on modern traditional Karate and specifically Shotokan Karate. Famously known for his modern approach and progressive training methods all through to the late 80's. He was also known for many years as the chief instructor of the Japan Karate Association, Not to mention he was the senior student of Gichin Funakoshi the founder Shotokan and a 9th degree black belt.

His series of books named BEST KARATE 1 - 11 are probably the most reliable and most resourceful books to date on fundamental techniques and training concepts as well as KATA (formal exercises)

In This Video I share my thoughts and give a basic book review on volumes one, two and five. These books are in my view the most essential volumes of the entire series for all levels of Karate-ka from beginner to advanced as well as a great reference for Instructors. These book are also great for practitioners from any other style of mart art and one can benefit from the material within.

Shotokan Karate is the most widely practiced style of Karate to date.
