An Interview with Dr. Paul Mason - Dr. Mason answers questions about vegan and carnivore diets

video thumbnail
In December 2020, Dr Paul Mason was interviewed by SBS TV (a national broadcaster in South Korea) for a documentary on nutrition. The purpose of this documentary is to assess the science behind plant based diets. This in the context of increasing popularity of these diets (in part driven by a wildly popular pro-vegetarian program from the same broadcaster 10 years prior) to see whether the health claims of plant based diets stack up.

Since the recording of this interview, a recently published systematic review (https://www.cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD013501.pub2/full) on vegan diets has found that there have been zero randomised controlled trials evaluating clinical outcomes on pure plant based diets. This finding at the very least, should bring into question the validity of claims made regarding the health benefits of vegan diets.
