IMAX 70mm, 35mm, 16mm, Super 8 & 70mm FILM GAUGES - SIZE MATTERS! |
|
Noel Pratt has worked his magic on my 35mm film projector and having just collected it I thought it was a good time to go through some of the film gauge formats and explain by illustrating them side by side why one is superior to the other. Many 4K disc collectors do seem to struggle to fully understand why one release is better than another and in many cases the film gauge a movie was shot on confirms why one is among the best 4K releases you will ever see and another can be somewhat disappointing. For example, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was shot on 16mm and as this has recently had a special 4K release by Second Sight Films you may have to bear this in mind to temper your expectations.
Jim Herd may have a spare ticket for the BFI IMAX screening of INTERSTELLAR this coming Sunday, 23rd April 2023 so if you're interested see if you can contact Jim via the comments section on here.
