video thumbnail
Elizabeth "Betsy" Jones of Moultrie, Georgia is a middle school instructional coach. She talked about her nontraditional path to teaching, becoming an instructional coach, and moving back into a teaching position during the COVID-19 pandemic. Betsy shares how Georgia responded to the pandemic and how schools implemented procedures to get students meals and resources such as a school drive-thru to pick up packets and books. She described the role of writing poetry during the early days of the pandemic as a time that began with personal reflection, led to writing poetry with teachers and students, and ended with a sense of grief for what has been lost. She also described her current thoughts on the future of education.
