What do you if a have a health emergency in a different country where you don't speak the language? How do you navigate an unfamiliar health care system? This talk is about a personal journey of finding meaning and purpose through helping other Latinos in the local community gain access to healthcare services. It highlights the importance of providing of language services when people are at their most vulnerable. Pam is a member of the ESL team at Richmond Community Schools and a part-time Medical Interpreter at Neighborhood Health Center. She has lived in Richmond, Indiana since 2008 with her son Connor and four pets. Her passions are art, travel, nature, and cultural events. She believes in equality in every area of life but with an emphasis on healthcare and education. She loves to help others in the community (especially the Latino community) to reach the same healthcare and educational options and opportunities as anybody else in the community.
