For those of us who don’t like the beach because of how dangerous it is, rivers are quiet, calm places where we can go to relax. But, are rivers really as safe as they seem? If we’re being honest, the answer to this question is no. Why? Well, because rivers are freshwater bodies that house some of the most dangerous aquatic creatures you will ever come across. Bull Shark

Now you might be wondering exactly how a shark would make its way into the river? Well, let me tell you that while Bull Sharks are definitely found in the ocean, they also love to live in freshwater rivers - where they find their most unsuspecting prey. These sharks have special physiological adaptations that allow them to live in rivers - especially in murky waters where they can hide until the time is just right for an attack. Their unconventional habitat is also the reason why Bull Sharks are considered to be the most dangerous shark species - especially when it comes to human lives.

Think about it, would you ever imagine coming across a full-sized shark while canoeing in the river? But, hey! Stranger things have happened. Bull sharks can attack animals and humans of just about any size because of their strength. These fish generally grow up to about 7.5 feet and weigh up to 285 pounds with a large appetite and of course, an extreme temper.

Snakehead Fish

Killer Snakeheads are some of the most lethal creatures found in rivers with their heads bearing a striking resemblance to snakes. These fish can grow up to more than 3 feet in length and have razor-sharp teeth to bite off the heads of their prey. Most snakehead fish will stay away from humans unless they go into defense mode when they feel like their safety is being breached.

The Giant Snakehead Fish is one species of this family that doesn’t think twice before being aggressive and biting humans if they get too close. And if the bite isn’t bad enough, the snakehead fish also contains all kinds of bacteria that can cause horrible infections.
