YVONNE MACPHERSON became Executive Director of BBC Media Action USA in 2011, after serving as Country Director of BBC Media Action in India. While in India from 2004-2011, Yvonne designed and managed social and behavior change initiatives on HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, gender equality and livelihoods, among others, that reached over 300 million people. Prior to joining BBC Media Action, she managed health projects in Asia and Africa for NGOs and UN agencies. She holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and a BA (Hons) from McGill University, Montreal Canada.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
