Counsel for the uMkhonto we Sizwe political party has argued that there is nothing urgent about the ANC's application to seek an interdict against the use of the uMkhonto we Sizwe name and logo.
They say the "real trigger" behind the ANC's bid - six months after it learnt about the MK party - is the December 2023 announcement by ANC member and former ANC President Jacob Zuma, that he is throwing his weight, support and influence behind the new party. The governing party is seeking interdictory relief which will result in the MK party having to change their name and logo - if they are successful.
