This AMV was created by such a lucky accident!! I just finished re-watching the first arc of Sword Art Online yesterday, cried, and then went on the Internet to watch some SAO AMVs.

Then, completely out of the blue, I started panicking over not remembering this year’s Eurovision winner. I listen to the winning song “Arcade” on YouTube and thought, “Oh my god! Was this written purposefully with Sword Art Online in mind?!”

I decided to make this AMV with the mindset of taking the song’s lyrics literally in the sense that while it’s obvious that Duncan is singing about dating and actual arcades, I took it as him referring directly to Sword Art Online (for ex. the “losing game” referring to SAO’s steep difficulty and permadeth).

As with my usual habit of paying omage to the original creator of the song, I added the slightest blue colored filter to my AMV in reference of Duncan Laurences’s official music video of Arcade (check it out here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Eztx7Wr8PtE ). In the video, the color scheme is very blue and the singer spends most of its runtime under water.
