Surrogacy Workshop Part 1: Planning Your Journey / 2015 SF MHB |
|
The first part of our comprehensive surrogacy workshop was developed based on the accumulated knowledge of hundreds of gay men who have already gone through the process.
In this section, we covered the various surrogacy arrangements available for gay men to prepare you to make the basic decisions regarding your surrogacy journey. Topics covered will include: *Basic terminology, types and components of typical surrogacy arrangements. *Typical sequence and timeline for gestational surrogacy journeys. *Major decisions that shape the surrogacy journey. *Considering your family vision, financial constraints, risk tolerance and ethical preferences. *Known vs. anonymous egg donations. ---- The 2015 West Coast Men Having Babies conference was held once again in cooperation with Our Family Coalition. Following the successful collaboration in offering a mini-conference early 2014, the two organizations teamed up again for a full day conference. More than 160 prospective parents benefited from expert and personal stories panels, and opportunities to meet twenty providers from across the United States and beyond at the Gay Parenting Expo, breakout sessions and in private consultations. Additional supportive organizations included the SF LGBT Center and Gay Future Dads. Proceeds from sponsorship and exhibiting fees benefited the Gay Parenting Assistance Program (GPAP) and Our Family Coalition. |
