As we leave the digital realm behind, we find ourselves immersed in the tangible stories of communities striving for justice and equality. How does technology intersect with these narratives, and what lessons can we draw from this intricate dance between the virtual and the tangible? Join Dr. Chris Crews in a thought-provoking exploration of "The Woke Wars" and the profound connections between technology and social change! Chris Crews is a Visiting Assistant Professor in International Studies and the Writing Program at Denison University. His research focuses on social movements, Indigenous rights, environmental justice, religious nationalism, and extremist politics, and he is currently working on a book tentatively titled "The Woke Wars." He identifies as both a scholar of social movements as well as a lifelong activist, beginning with student activism and alter-globalization politics in the mid-1990s. He earned a PhD in Politics from the New School for Social Research in New York City and a Masters in Political Science from Ohio University. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
