The “transparency of camera phones has brought many racist incidents to light”, including one incident in America that has resulted in a 46-year-old black man’s death, according to Sky News host Chris Kenny.

The FBI have launched an investigation into the death of George Floyd, who died after being held down by the neck in by an officer in Minnesota.

Mr Kenny said without video, investigators would not have been able to see what transpired.

“Without it, it'd be just word against word,” he said.

“Which is why this tweet from African American comedian Roy Wood junior is pertinent Black folk, he says, might be time to give a statue to the camera phone. “

“It has done as much for fighting racism as Martin Luther King, Malcolm and Farrakhan combined.”
