The Columbia University in New York city has become the epicentre of nationwide pro-palestinian protests across some of the US' most elite colleges. An encampment has been set-up at Minnesota University to that end, with students residing there, and protesting against Israel's operations in Gaza. Several students were arrested from these camps at Minnesota's main campus for refusing to leave the temporary premises. This has triggered similar protests of solidarity in several other maiden US colleges. Students are demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and calling for strict actions to be taken against Israel for human rights violations in the war-torn strip.
