The UNEXPECTED watch no one predicted - Andrew & Zach react to Tudor's releases at W&W 2023

The Black Bay 58's release was jawdropping for thousands of watch enthusiasts, converting even the most diehard Rolex supporters to Tudor supporters. The 58 still has a high demand, and the more streamlined case with style-appropriate proportions felt like Tudor had finally found a home outside of the shadow of its bigger brother. With the Tudor Black Bay 54, the Swiss company is attempting—and probably succeeding—to recreate its formula for success at Watches & Wonders this year.

With the appropriate changes to the marker sizes, the dial basically resembles the Black Bay 58, although the snowflake hand set is significantly more delicate and slim. With a smooth 4Hz sweep, 70 hours of power reserve, and COSC certification for Chronometer standards of accuracy, the movement is Tudor's own calibre MT5400. This stainless steel bracelet is available in Tudor's classic riveted design, of course, but as it's a new-generation model, it also has a T-fit clasp with eight sliding microadjustment points. You can choose it on a rubber strap with fitted steel end links if you enjoy the case's comfort but would prefer a more contemporary and informal appearance.

The Tudor Black Bay 54 is now live on Tudor’s website, and will be available at their retailers. Price: AU$5,140 (Rubber strap) AU$5,440 (Bracelet)

The Tudor Black Bay GMT now comes with an opaline white dial, which should please anyone who previously passed it up because of the watch's contrasting white date wheel. The white of the Snowflake hands and brilliant hour markers creates a negative display of contours that is incredibly legible without compromising any beauty. In contrast to the white dial, the matte blue and burgundy bezel insert, which is manufactured of anodized aluminium as with previous versions, is meant to look much more vivid and summery.

The new Tudor Black Bay GMT in white is now live on Tudor’s website, and will be available from their retailers. Price: AU$6,090

-------------------------------

This 41mm variation with a vivid burgundy bezel has been added to the Tudor Black Bay collection, following in the lines of the Heritage Black Bay model reference 79220. The legendary Black Bay 58 and the new Black Bay 54 are more slender than the 41mm Tudor Black Bay case, which is less so, but if you're not afraid of a full-size diver, then the slab-sided 14.8mm thickness and 50mm lug-to-lug should not be a problem for you. A Tudor proprietary movement with a considerable 70-hour power reserve and a 4Hz beat rate is the calibre MT5602-U. Additionally, it has a silicon balance spring for magnetic resistance and is COSC-certified for chronometer accuracy.

It’s available on either their classic riveted style bracelet, a slightly more dressy Jubilee style bracelet, or a black rubber strap with fitted steel end links. All of these strap options are fitted with Tudor’s T-fit clasp.

The new Tudor Black Bay in Burgundy is now live on Tudor’s website, and will be available from their retailers. Price: AU$5,890 (Rubber strap) / AU$6,190 (Riveted bracelet) / AU$6,340 (Jubilee bracelet)
