Through the years, Mohanlal and Prakash Raj drift apart becoming rivals at a point.

Iruvar was supposedly based on the real life relationship of actor MGR and writer-turned-politician M Karunanidhi. Starting their lives on humble means, both of them rose to greater heights only to drift apart from each other. Iruvar Movie is considered as Mani Ratnam's best movie.
