Debbie Allen Honored at 2021 Emmys, Meek Mill First Rapper to Receive Humanitarian Award |

In the Digital Streets, legendary actress Debbie Allen will receive the Governors Award at this year’s Primetime Emmys.
The nomination came because of her “unprecedented achievements in television, and her commitment to inspire and engage marginalized youth through dance, theater arts and mentorship,” according to the Emmys website. Allen was featured on “A Different World,” “Fame,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Insecure” and “Scandal.” Also, Meek Mill becomes the first rapper to receive the Nelson Mandela Humanitarian Award. He took his celebration to Instagram by captioning a picture of the award with a verse from “Meek Flow,” referring to the gun “Smith & Western.” Tory Lanez corrected him by saying “Smith & Wesson” and Mill responded, “say congrats or something weirdo.” The Afrobeats song “Essence” by WizKid, is one of the top songs for the summer. There is a remix of the song that features Justin Bieber, with mixed reviews from social media. The remix video is trending eighth on YouTube.
