For those who do not know, Rain is the son of Argus, god of rain, which makes him a demi-god. He grew up as an orphan in Edenia and betrayed the resistance to serve Shao Khan. In MKX he became Mileena's bodyguard and is one of the many characters who died canonically in that game. It was created as a joke by Ed Boon, it is a reference to Purple Rain, Prince's song.

Rain is coming to Mortal Kombat 11 alongside the Ultimate version on November 17, 2020. It will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia.

Rain will be a 'zoner' type character, with abilities that allow him to keep enemies at a distance and control the battlefield. He will continue to use his power to control the water to surprise rivals.
