You bring up leadership in almost any circle, all over the globe, and you are bound to hear at least one of these names, Simon Sinek, Brene Brown, or Adam Grant, and their ideas introduced into the conversation. These three, along with countless other business and leadership thinkers, have blessed the world with outstanding insights and ideas to improve the world of leadership and management.

Let me start by saying, I’m a huge fan of these three amazing folks and many of the other authors of popular management books like Tom Rath, David Maxfield, and Joseph Grenny. I have a stack of leadership related books that have helped and inspired me tremendously throughout my 15 years experience in people management.

That’s really the issue I have with the great business thinkers like Sinek, Brown, and Grant is actual management and leadership experience. These folks have none. They are excellent researchers, thinkers, and authors, there is no doubt about that, but they have no leadership experience.
