Mr. Nihad Panju is a marathon runner, he was diagnosed with tuberculous meningitis which left him partially paralyzed. However, it's the indomitable spirit and sheer perseverance that defied all odds and rest is history. His achievements in sports has left everyone spellbound. Nihad Panju is a marathon runner. At the age of 5 months, he was diagnosed with Tubercular Meningitis which left him with a left-sided Hemiplegia (partial paralysis caused by brain injury). His parents tried every possible conventional and alternative therapy and treatment available, but there was very little to no improvement and as years went by, they gradually accepted that a hurt brain cannot be fixed but there were ways to overcome obstacles that he would face in life. He believes that people must not allow any kind of disability to stop them from achieving their dreams. With determination and hard work one can do anything he/she wants to - even if they are told achieving something is impossible. He believes If he can do it then anyone else can. Nihad’s story is that of grit, perseverance, character and resilience. His achievements in sports have given the world an identity to inspire from. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
