The new Honda ZR-V represents something of a departure for Honda, because it’s an all-new nameplate, and that’s not something Honda does very often.

UK prices for the new Honda ZR-V at time of publication are as follows:
Elegance: from £39,495
Sport: from £41,095
Advance: from £42,895

This all-new C-Segment offering enters Honda’s SUV range slap bang in the middle, sitting between the smaller HR-V and the larger CR-V, and that puts it in a very popular sector of the car market, meaning it could potentially be a big sales success if Honda gets it right.

Not massively surprisingly, given its size, the ZR-V shares a lot with the latest Civic hatchback. That include its platform (although the rear end of the platform is taken from the forthcoming CR-V, due later this year) and its hybrid drivetrain. The system combines a 2.0-litre direct-injection, Atkinson-Cycle petrol engine with two electric motors, to deliver a combined output of around 180 horsepower.

We reckon that similarity to the Civic could be very good news, because the Civic is a very, very good car, one of the best of its type. So, can the ZR-V similarly impressive?
