Trump's first impeachment - 2020
Republican counsel Stephen Castor questioned Marie Yovanovitch, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, in a public hearing as part of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. In the Nov. 15 hearing, Castor asked Yovanovitch why she would have been the target of a campaign, led by Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and his associates, to oust her from her post. “I didn’t understand that at all,” Yovanovitch said, adding that Giuliani’s associates Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, had business interests in Ukraine. The impeachment probe centers around a July phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
