The best spot to watch the sunset in Hong Kong. I kid you not, this is the best place for you to photograph the sunset in Hong Kong. It is truly Instagrammable perfect. This is also the best location for plane spotting. The planes taking off will be from the South Runway. Not only do you get to watch the sunset, but also, in addition to that, it's the place where you can watch the airplanes take off in super close proximity, so it makes this location super romantic too! So it's perfection when you can get a shot of the airplane within your sunset photo.

It's near the airport, so it's obviously a little farther out; however, do not worry as there is no hiking involved and super easy to get to - it just takes a bit of time, that's all. I would say around 1.5 hours from Central. If you've ever seen Triumph in the Skies from TVB, you may recognise this place as it's the place they do some of their romantic lovey dovey scenes.

The location is on Chek Lap Kok South Perimeter Road, but you can also put this into Google: South Perimeter Road Traffic Calming Street and the location and address and photos will show up. This is a public area, so do not worry that you're trespassing into the Hong Kong International Airport or similar. We took the public bus, in which I will give directions down below. You can also bike here, which I cannot help you with, but would encourage you to do your own research.

IMPORTANT FRIENDLY REMINDER: THERE ARE NO WASHROOMS HERE! Please go to the toilet prior at Tung Chung's Citygate Mall, and limit liquid consumption if you're thinking of staying here for long.

GETTING HERE TO WATCH THE AMAZING SUNSET VIA BUS:

1) Get yourself to Tung Chung MTR Station. Exit C for City Gate Mall. Do all your shopping here for snacks, water, bug repellent & toilet breaks.

2) Under the mall is the bus terminus. Find the bus S52 for Airport Maintenance Area. It's $4 HKD. You will see a bunch of other couples and photographer enthusiasts such as yourself.

3) Ride it to the end. Takes about 15 mins. On your left, you will see the bridge, rocks, and all people taking photos. This is the spot. The bus will drop you off at the end stop in which everybody will get off. Just walk back & that's it!

RETURNING BACK TO TUNG CHUNG:
Take the same bus at the same bus stop.

This video was actually filmed in August 2020, at the height of COVID-19, and as you can see, I was just as amazed as you are that there were still quite a number of planes taking off.
